In Episode 18, we meet the multi facetted  TJ "Bear" Morris.  Bear shared his upbringing in a Midwestern family with sporadic church attendance, detailing how his teenage years were influenced by both church and music. He recounted a significant moment at a youth rally that initially sparked a deep spiritual connection, which later faded, leading him to question the authenticity of his faith. Bear described a decade of distancing himself from God, during which he immersed himself in heavy metal music and grappled with personal grievances and perceived hypocrisy within the church. A turning point occurred when he attended a church service, where he experienced kindness and acceptance, marking the beginning of his reconnection with faith.

The emotional impact of worship services was a key theme, as Bear described intense reactions during these experiences, which he and his wife found challenging. Their journey highlighted unresolved feelings from their past, complicating their spiritual awakening. Bear's unexpected entry into church music, prompted by a pastor seeking a drummer, led to transformative experiences that deepened his faith. He eventually embraced baptism, feeling a spiritual calling that marked a significant shift in his journey.

Bear emphasized the importance of personal responsibility in faith, sharing insights gained from reading the Bible and understanding its context. He discussed his commitment to ministering to diverse individuals and the significance of forgiveness in spiritual well-being. Angela engaged Bear on resources beyond the Bible that aid in knowing God, including a book by Charles Spurgeon and his practice of morning reflection. The conversation concluded with a mutual interest in future discussions, acknowledging the audience's desire for more insights from Bear.
