Matthew Missimer, married to Shannon and they have 3 children, Madelym (9), Quinn (7) and Grayson (5).  After being nomads for the last 4 years the Missimers have put down roots close to home in Pennsylvania.  Matthew & Shannon are the Co Founders of The Motion of Gratitude and Matthew authored his first book, The Paradox of Having Your Sh*T Together."  Matthew started his professional journey in financial services when he was 19.  After 16 years at one company he moved to a second firm for 4 years and finally exited the day to day financial planning business in 2022 selling his book to an RIA.  After 20 years in the financial planning business Matthew now dedicates his professional life to The Motion of Gratitude.  His mission is to help adults and children find a daily connection point anchored in gratitude and the present moment.  The Motion of Gratitude works with companies to create a culture bridge connecting employees and leaders back to the human experience.  The Motion of Gratitude works in schools and after school programs to help children connect to themselves and the miracle of life.  Matthew believes that gratitude is the gateway for some and the destination for most for living a fulfilled life.

In episode 15 we meet Michael Fabber, a powerhouse of a man and a tremendous friend with a traumatic story.  Michael recounted his faith journey, highlighting the distinction between merely attending church and developing a personal relationship with God. He shared that, despite being raised in a Christian environment, he did not truly engage with his faith until he was nearly 30, often feeling rebellious and victimized during his youth. Angela inquired about the timeline of his experiences, and Michael acknowledged that his deeper understanding of faith came with maturity. He also discussed his early entrepreneurial ventures, revealing that he measured his self-worth by his possessions and achievements, particularly during his time as a restaurant owner.
The conversation shifted to Michael's transformative experiences, including the impact of losing loved ones to suicide, which led him to reflect on his life's purpose. He described a pivotal moment in Mobile, Alabama, where he found calm amidst chaos, prompting a reevaluation of his legacy. Angela recognized the importance of sharing his story to honor those he lost and emphasized the role of vulnerability in fostering connection. Michael articulated a shift from ego-driven pursuits to a focus on helping others, highlighting the significance of deep relationships in his life and the importance of authenticity in building supportive connections.
Michael and Angela discussed the complexities of spiritual journeys, emphasizing the need for inner peace and the importance of love in overcoming self-destructive behaviors. They referenced the book "Chop Wood, Carry Water," which underscores the idea of personal growth as a continuous journey. Their conversation also touched on the physical sensations associated with spiritual awareness, with both sharing their experiences of sweating during significant moments.
Michael concluded by encouraging individuals to embrace authenticity and seek help, emphasizing the importance of community support in addressing challenges related to suicide and substance abuse.
